Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation has proposed new legislation to curb the use of electronic devices while driving. This will impact all types of cell phone use as well as electronic day planners and music devices as they become increasing more functional. The current laws where a person is convicted of careless driving provide for a fine of up to $1000, and/or a jail term of 6 months and the loss of 6 demerit points.
